有名な曲ですね．日本では1995年のジブリ映画『耳をすませば』で「カントリー・ロード」として使われ，再ブレークしました．原曲の歌詞は望郷およびウェストヴァージニア讃歌といえる内容で，故郷へ帰るぞという歌です．ジブリ映画の方は，望郷の念にかられながらも，帰らずにさらに邁進しようという歌です．All my memories...のパートがウェストヴァージニアを一見下げていて，Almost heaven...のパートと対比になっています．これで一層ウェストヴァージニアへの愛を引き出していますね．
